Q: How do I know when it's time to change my car's battery?

With the winters that we have in southeastern Wisconsin, no one wants to be caught with a dead battery. And though most people think it's the bitter cold that is hard on car batteries, it's the heat you have to watch.

The sweltering, 90-degree-plus weather we often get in July and August is detrimental to car batteries. Unfortunately, we often don't see the results of this damage until we are stuck in a blizzard with temperatures well below freezing.

As a general rule, with normal wear and tear, most betteries will need to be replaced every 5 years.

But that's only a guideline! To be certain, stop in at Appleby's.

We perform diagnostic tests on your battery every time we change your oil, so you'll know what to expect. If it's time for a new battery, we can install a top-quality Interstate battery while you wait!
